Description

Pickering's Triangle is part of  the Cygnus. Loop.  It is a supernova remnant and consists of the Eastern Veil Nebula, the Western Veil Nebula with Pickering's Triangle between them. The source of the supernova was a star approximately 20 times the mass of our Sun that exploded between 10,000 and 20,000 years ago. That is in contrast to the popular M1 supernova that exploded in 1054 AD.

This is a very large nebula. In order to capture Pickering's Triangle I used a Stellarvue SV90 (90mm) refractor with a 0.8 focal reducer.

Processing of the object was difficult due to the very large number of stars in the field.
